About Us

At Tennant Podiatry, we have been treating feet in Oldham for more than 45 years. In that time, we’ve seen the profession change enormously, and we've changed with it.

hat’s why today our Union Street clinic combines the traditional, careful chiropody with the kind of technology that only a very few UK practices can offer you - all under one roof!

In all that time, our purpose hasn't changed at all. We’re still dedicated to improving the quality of your life by treating your foot and ankle pain properly and for good whenever we can.

An Accredited Practice

Tennant Podiatry is an Accredited Practice of the Royal College of Podiatry. That’s not a membership you can simply buy. It means we've worked through rigorous standards that go well beyond the basic requirements, and that we agree to be independently inspected against them.

We're also accredited by the University of Salford as a learning environment for their podiatry students. This means the standard of practice here is high enough to teach from.

All our clinicians are registered with the HCPC (the same organisation that oversees physiotherapists and nurses) and members of the Royal College of Podiatry. They are fully insured and qualified to BSc (Hons) level in Podiatry.

Many of our clinicians are also Extended Scope Practitioners, an advanced level of practice you won't find at most clinics.

If you're looking for a podiatrist, we'd encourage you to check them on the HCPC and Royal College of Podiatry registers.

And be aware of the distinction - podiatry is a more modern term that means the same as chiropodist but better reflects the scope of our practice. A foot health practitioner is neither, and is not HCPC regulated.

Technology That Makes a Difference

3D Scanning In-House

We're among a small number of UK practices with 3D scanning and 3D printing technology in-house. It's not a gimmick. It means we can measure and examine the precise contours of your foot and manufacture an orthotic prescription to that exact geometry, without having to ship casts off to a third-party lab and waiting weeks for a result.

3D Printed Orthotics

Our Fit4U 3D printed orthotics are made from vegetable TPU, making them a vegan, cruelty-free alternative to conventional leather-based devices. And because we print them ourselves, we cut our carbon footprint substantially.

We also work with leading manufacturers to offer:

- Swift Microwave Therapy treating single and multiple verrucae in a single session

- Clearanail controlled micro-penetration for fungal nail infections

- Lunula Laser non-invasive low-level laser therapy for fungal nails

- ASA MLS Class 4 Laser for osteoarthritis, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and Morton's neuroma

- Staying at the cutting edge of our profession is part of our job, and our clinicians spend many days a year on training courses to stay there.

How We Work

Treatment should be as pain-free as possible. It's one of our core beliefs. We always explain and gain consent first, and local anaesthetic is available if you need it (typically only around 2% of patients do).

You don’t need a referral. You can book directly with us; there's no need to go through your GP.

No need to feel embarrassed. We hear this a lot. Our service is professional and completely confidential, and whatever you're worried about, we've almost certainly seen worse.

It's always better to come in sooner rather than later.

We can visit you at home

Home-based podiatry is available and is particularly valuable for elderly patients. It can help maintain their mobility, reduce fall risk and keep their feet comfortable and hygienic.

But foot problems aren't just an older person's concern. Most of our patients are between the ages of 30 and 50.
